Footy Trip Season: How to Kit Out the Whole Crew
Share
The big league might have wrapped up with a Grand Final for the ages, but for thousands of local clubs, social sides and long-suffering supporter groups, October is a season of its own. Presentation nights. Footy trips. The end-of-year lunch that somehow runs until dinner. And, inevitably, someone in the group chat asking: "Should we get matching jerseys?"
The answer is yes. Here's how to do it properly.
Why matching kit matters
There's a reason footy trips come with a uniform. Matching kit turns a loose group of mates into a crew. It makes the photos better, makes you easier to find at the airport, and gives everyone something to keep long after the stories have been exaggerated. Ten years from now, the jersey in the cupboard will still bring the whole trip back.
It's the same for local clubs. A presentation-night jersey for volunteers, a thank-you for the canteen crew or a retro-style piece for a past players' reunion says something a certificate never will.
Bulk or bespoke?
Our Bulk & Bespoke service covers two common paths:
- Bulk: choose one of our existing classic stripe designs and order across a range of sizes for your group. Quick to organise and great for trips and social sides.
- Bespoke: work with us on your own colourway, stripe pattern and details for your club, team or event, using your own original name and artwork.
Either way, every jersey is made from the same heavyweight 320gsm cotton as our core range, so it's built to survive a trip, a few hundred washes and the next decade of reunions.
A quick planning checklist
- Lock the headcount early. Chase the stragglers now, not the week before you fly.
- Collect sizes properly. Send everyone the Size Guide rather than guessing. "I'm a large, probably" is how you end up with a very snug winger.
- Agree on the design. Classic stripes or something bespoke? One decision-maker saves a lot of group-chat pain.
- Use artwork you own. Your club name, your trip name, your in-joke. Original artwork keeps things simple, and we can't reproduce other organisations' logos or trademarks.
- Allow lead time. Get in touch as early as possible, especially for bespoke runs and anything you need before Christmas or the pre-season.
Born on the terraces, worn on tour
Community footy is where terrace culture lives most honestly: volunteers running the boundary, families in the car park, mates who've played together since under-tens. That's the spirit behind "Born on the terraces. Worn beyond." and it's why we love working with groups.
Heritage Stripes is an independent supporter lifestyle brand, not affiliated with or licensed by the AFL or any club. Tell us about your crew and we'll help you get the kit right.
